Seventh Generation

609. William Bedwell237 was born on 29 Dec 1876 in Marion County, Mississippi.238,452 He died on 16 Jan 1965 in Louisiana.452 He was a farmer.

His birthdate listings are wildly inconsistent. The 1880 Census shows him as four years old, which indicates he was probably born in 1876. The 1900 Census lists him as born in Dec 1877. The World War I Draft Registration records have him as born Nov 20, 1877. Because his brother James was born in Aug 1878, the 1877 birthdate must be incorrect.

• 1900 Census for Marion County, Mississippi shows William B. Bedwell, born Dec 1877, a farmer who owns his land, as head of household with: Angeline, born Dec 1880, his wife of two years who has had one child, still living; and daughter Celia, born Oct 1898. They are living next door to Elias Bedwell, William's father.

• 1910 Census for Marion County, Mississippi shows Willie Bedwell, age 32, a farmer who owns his land, as head of household containing: Angie, age 29, his wife of 12 years who has had seven children, all still living; daughter Celia, age 11; daughter Lizzie, age 9; son Dannie, age 7; son Elijah, age 6; daughter Mary, age 4; daughter Emma, age 3; and son Coby, age less than 1.

• 1920 Census for Marion County, Mississippi, taken Jan 17 1920, shows Wm. Bedwell, age 43, a farmer who owns his land, as head of household consisting of: wife Angeline, age 39; son Daniel, age 17; son Eliza (?), age 16; daughter Mary, age 14; daughter Carrie (?), age 13; son Burrell, age 10; daughter Rosa, age 8; daughter Oveta, age 3 and 11/12; and daughter Myrtle, age 2 and 11/12. All were born in Mississippi.

I could not find any trace of this family in the 1930 census.
