Bedwell, 44, a farmer who owns his land, as head of household consisting of: Augusta, 38, his wife of 15 years who has had six children with four still living; daughter (illegible -- looks like Nettis), 14; son Vernon, 9; son Sheldon, 7; son Eugene, 4; sister-in-law Sophia Hess, 28; and a boarder named H. Reid who is a public school teacher.

• 1920 Census for Apple Creek Township, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, taken in Jan 1920, shows Edward A. Bedwell, 53, a farmer who owns his land, as head of household including: wife Augusta, 47; daughter (illegible) C., 24; son Vernon C., 18; and son Sheldon O., 17. Eugene is not listed with the family; he should be only about 14, so he may have died before 1920.

• 1930 Census for Apple Creek Township, Cape Girardeau County, Missouri, taken in April 1930, shows Vernon C. Bedwell, 29, a farmer who owns his land, as head of household with: Lucy G., 26, his wife of four years; son Donal F., 8/12; and father Edward A., 64, a widower.

Edward August Bedwell and Augusta Hesse were married about 1895.¹⁵³⁹ Augusta Hesse¹⁵³⁹ was born in Aug 1872 in Missouri.¹⁵³⁹ She died before Apr 1930.¹⁵⁴⁰ She was also known as Augusta Hess. Edward August Bedwell and Augusta Hesse had the following children:
