James M. Prewitt, born Nov 1853 in Kentucky, a farmer who rents his land, as
head of household containing: Mary, born July 1852 in Tennessee, his wife of
26 years who has had three children, all still living; son Walter L., born Nov
1876 in Kansas; son James H., born Feb 1879 in Illinois; daughter Lena M., born
Oct 1893 in Texas; and mother-in-law Susan Bedwell, born Mar 1835 in Tennessee,
a widow who has had five children, four still living (note: census records prove
that Susan Bedwell actually had at least seven children). Mary Jane Bedwell
and James Monroe Prewitt were married on 26 Jul 1874 in Johnson City, Illinois.
