1900 Census for Lincoln County, Tennessee, shows Cleophas Bedwell, born
Nov 1881, a single farmer who owns land, living in the household of half-brother
N.O. Keith, a single farmer. Also in the household are their mother, Elzina
Ashby, 55; their stepfather, Wilsy Ashby, 64; a half-sister, Hattie Ashby, 17;
and a black servant named Sam K. Cannon, who is a 26-year-old widower. The Warden
family, which apparently includes Cleophas' future wife, live next door.
1910 Census for Lincoln County, Tennessee, shows Cleopas Bedwell, 28,
a farmer, as head of household consisting of: wife Viola, 26, who has had one
child with one still living; and son Ray, 4. They have been married for four
years.
World War I Draft Registration card shows Cleophus Ashby Bedwell, born
Nov 22, 1881, a resident of Garfield, Oklahoma. He is an oil field worker who
lists Mr. W. R. Wray of Celest, Lawrence, Missouri, as his closest relative.
He is tall and slender with blue eyes and black hair.
1920 Census shows C.A. Bedwell, 36, a widower, living with half-sister
Mary and her husband W.A. Wray in Granby, Newton County, Missouri. They are
farmers.
1930 Census for Dayton, Newton County, Missouri, shows Cleophas A. Bedwell,
44, a farmer, living with: wife Mary, 37, born in Tennessee; and daughter Glendon
(Glenda?), 6, born in Oklahoma.
From researcher Noveda Metzger (nam@@lcc.net), author of _Some Descendants
of Halifax Ashby, Sr._: "C. A. married second, probably in Arkansas, but
his wife's name i s unknown. She died in childbirth, with twins. It is thought
his wife and two children are buried in Mena AR." Does this refer to a
spouse that is between the two that are known?

C.A. Bedwell Dies
Granby, Mo., Jan. 13 -- Cleophas Ashby Bedwell, 76 years old, died at 2 o'clock
Sunday morning in Granby Community hospital where he had been a patient since
Friday when he fell in his home and suffered a broken hip. Mr. Bedwell was a
lifelong resident of Granby.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Bedwell; two daughters, Mrs. Glendon Carpenter
of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Sarah Ellis of San Diego, Calif., and two sons, Ray
Bedwell of Neosho route 1 and Joe Bedwell of Granby.
Funeral services were to be conducted his afternoon, with the Rev. Sam Starkey
officiating and burial in Granby Memorial cemetery under direction of Culver-Shewmake
funeral home. Cleophus Ashby (C.A.) Bedwell and Annie Viola Warden were married
on 22 Dec 1903 in Lincoln County, Tennessee.747,1451 Annie

of Nathaniel M. Warden and Amanda Cordelia Isom) was born on 19 Nov 1883 in Lincoln
County, Tennessee.747 She
