• posted on ancestry.com by his grandson, jamesalmondgeorge: "Great Grandpa and Grandma Bedwell were visiting Grandpa Roy and Betha Lee Irons in Mt. Gilead, Ohio. They drove all the way from Southern Virginia to Ohio. I was about four years old. Grandpa Bedwell was sitting in a rocking chair when I approached him. I knew that he was special. He had a handle bar mustache and wore a shirt and pants with suspenders. He unwrapped what appeared to be a candy bar and offered me a piece. I took it and began to chew. It was not chocolate, as it was tobacco. That was his joke and my first and only chaw." Date and time are listed as 1952, Mt. Gilead, Ohio.
