429. Sarah Jane
Duncan was born in 1836 in Tennessee. She died in 1874.
• 1860 Census for Lee County, Virginia shows John Tyler, 24, a farmer, as
head of household with: Sarah, 22; John, 4; and Sarah, 2. They are living next
door to Rebecca Duncan, Sarah's mother, and several of Sarah's siblings.
• 1870 Census for Scott County, Virginia shows Rebecca Duncan, 61, as head
of household consisting of: Wiley W., 23, a farm laborer; Sarah J. Tyler, 32;
Rebecca A. Tyler, 13; James W. Tyler, 12; Lorenzo D. Tyler, 10; and Nancy E.
Tyler, 8. John Tyler (son of Hannibal Tyler) was
born about 1836 in Scott County, Virginia.557
He died in May 1863 in The Battle of Chancellorsville during the Civil War.
He served in the military in the in Civil War, Confederate. Sarah
Jane Duncan and John Tyler had the following children:
