May, age 10. All except Wm were born in Indiana. All are shown as able to read and write. Frances, Amanda, and Charles attended school that year.

• 1900 Census for Monroe, Clark County, Indiana, shows William Bedwell, born May 1829, a farmer who cannot read or write, as head of household containing: Sarah, born July 1832, his wife of 21 years; and son General J., born Aug 1874. They own their own land.
