• 1880 Census for Cherokee County, Alabama, shows Frank Bedwell, age 33, a farmer, as head of household: Matilda, age 26; William, age 9; Dora E., age 7; Melvina D., age 5; John T., age 3.

• 1910 Census shows a Frank Bedwell, age 65, living with son Butler Bedwell, age 21, and his family.

Although earlier census records showed Francis Bedwell as female, that may have been a mistake. The Frank Bedwell shown in the 1880 census must belong to Squire and Sarah, and is the same age that Francis would be.
