• From Dr. Maple's Scrapbook, Volume 30, page 3 (provided to the Mayfield mailing list by Carl Dearmin.): "Susan Hinkle was born September 25, 1802, and died September 11, 1897. Married 1st Elisha Bedwell, who was born Feb. 18, 1799, and died Sept. 5, 1838; 2nd Richard Davidson, who was born 1794 and died ______. He was in the War of 1812 and drew a pension for his service. Susan Hinkle is buried in the Moody Cemetery near Pleasantville, Ind. She has two sons and two daughters to Elisha Bedwell. Elizabeth E. Mayfield (married Edward Mayfield); Rebecca married Harrison Mayfield; and M. C. Bedwell."

John W. (Wesley) Bedwell150 was born about 1836 in Indiana.144 He died of cholera about 1854 in Sullivan County, Indiana. He was buried in Town Cemetery, Carlisle, Indiana.150

• 1850 Census for Haddon Township, Sullivan County, Indiana, shows Coke M. Bedwell, age 17, living with his mother and stepfather, Richard and Susan Davidson. Also in the household are John W. Bedwell, age 14, and Sarah Bedwell, age 11.

• From an article titled "Cholera in Carlisle", printed in the Sullivan Times on 2 June 1883, written by W.M. Martyn:

"On a bright Sunday morning (1854) while the deadly disease prevailed John Trigg, Wesley Bedwell and I, walked out to the Dooley orchard on the railway, Wesley talked of his future prospects; his hope of a long life of usefulness; spoke of his brother, Mr. Coke Bedwell; mentioned the death of a loving sister by the scourge; of the effect it had upon his mother; then, as now, the honored wife of Uncle Dicky Davidson. That was the last time I saw him alive. Wesley Bedwell died the next Wednesday."
