head of household consisting of wife Esther, 20, and their children: son Willy,
4; son James, 2; and daughter Jane, born March 1880. They are living next door
to Daniel Smith, 57, and his large family. Because his parents were both born
in South Carolina, he may probably Nancy Smith's brother.
• 1900 Census for Marion County, Mississippi shows Elias Bedwell, born 1850,
a farmer who owns his land, as head of household containing: Eliza E., born Mar
1862, his wife of 23 years who has had 11 children with 11 still living; son
Andrew J., born Sep 1881; daughter Emily E., born Mar 1884; son Dock, born Nov
1885; son John I., born Sep 1886; daughter Mary L., born Mar 1889; son Franklin,
born Nov 1890; daughter Rosa, born Feb 1894; and son Henry H., born Sep 1897.
All were born in Mississippi except Eliza, who was born in Louisiana.
• 1910 Census for Marion County, Mississippi shows Elias Bedwell, 60, a
farmer, as head of household consisting of: Easter, 47, mother of 10, all still
living, his wife of 30 years; and sons Frank, 18; Henry, 17; and Tom, 9. Living
next door is Dock Bedwell, 24, and his family: Dolly, 20, his wife of 2 years;
daughter Verria, 1 and a half; and son "Boy", age 3 months. Living
next door to them are Andrew Bedwell, age 20-something (illegible), and his family:
Maggie, 21, his wife of 7 years; daughter Sarah, 6; son William, 3; and daughter
?, 10/12. All are farming families.
• 1920 Census for Marion County, Mississippi shows Elias Bedwell, 74, a
farmer who owns his land, as head of household with: wife Liza, 50; and boarder
Henry N. Bedwell, 22, a farmer. Eliza Easter Ward85 was born in Mar 1862 in Louisiana.238 She died in 1942.
