1 Vilonia, AR. was born March 19 1842 at Whiteville, Hardeman Co TN, son of Reuben
House of Bedford County, TN who moved to AR in 1858 and settled in White County,
living there until his death. He was the son of Joseph Bedwell House who lived
at West Point, White Co., AR. Maiden Name of subject's mother was Elizabeth Stevens
from the middle TN. Subject was a farmer, Democrat, and a Methodist. Served in
CO. A, Will Hicks Co., enlisted at Searcy County, AR, in spring of 1862. Taken
prisoner until the close of the war. Married Miss Mattie Booth, daughter of Thomas
and Telitha Booth, Feb. 22 1866 at West Point, White Co., AR.
1870 Census for Mingo Township, White County, Arkansas shows J.J. House,
age 26, a farmer born in Tennessee who owns $100 real estate and $300 assets,
as head of household with: Martha, age 21, born in Georgia; Edward, age 3, born
in Arkansas; and Bernard, age 1, born in Arkansas.
1900 Census for Bristol Township, Faulkner County, Arkansas shows Jefferson
House, born Mar 1842 in Tennessee, a farmer who owns his land, as head of household
consisting of: Martha, born Aug 1847 in Alabama, his wife of 34 years who has
had 10 children with 7 still living; Emery, born Nov 1876; Mattie, born Nov 1883;
Effie, born Mar 1886; Maggie, born Mar 1882, age 12 (these facts are contradictory;
she was probably born in 1888).
1910 Census for Bristol Township, Faulkner County, Arkansas shows Jefferson
J. House, age 68, a farmer born in Tennessee who owns his own land; and Martha
M., age 62, his wife of 43 years who has had ten children with seven still living.
Daughter Mattie and her husband William Curtis live next door. Jefferson J.
House and Martha M. Booth were married on 22 Feb 1866 in West Point, White County,
Arkansas.511 Martha
