The Jackson Sun Monday , June 2 1986: "Services for Leonard R. Mitchell,
63, will be Tuesday at Lawrence-Sorenson Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Gillespie
officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens. Mr. Mitchell, retired
owner of Mitchell's Furniture and Appliance Store, died Sunday afternoon at his
home. He been ill since November.
A native of Christian Co KY. he was the son of the late Daniel S. and Anna O.
Hunter Mitchell, attended public schools there and graduated from Paducah (KY)
Junior College.
Mr Mitchell was a World War II veteran and retired from the Tennessee National
Guard with the rank of major. He'd lived in Jackson since 1949 and operated the
store for 25 years before retirement. He was a member of the First Christian
Church. Surviving are his wife Mary Ann House Mitchell; A daughter, Kathy Riddle
of Jackson; a son Tommy Mitchell of Jackson; two sisters, Thelma Heltsley of
Hopkinsville KY; and Sue Johnson of Louisville KY. A brother Dan Mitchell, Jr.
of Madisonville Ky. and four grandchildren.
Pall bears will be Paul G. McGee, James E. Cobb, E. O. Bruce, James McMasters.
Jerry Cole, Mack Mefford, Barto Denton and Harry Spears. Mary Ann House and
