• World War I War History Commission interview shows that Hobert H. Bedwell
was the son of Robert Bedwell and Ellen Hull (should be Hall?) of Grayson County,
Virginia. He was a farmer employed by his father who served in the National
Army in 1918. He was shipped to France and spent time in the hospital with influenza.
He did not see combat action. After discharge, he returned to farming in Grayson
County.
• 1930 Census for North Fork, McDowell County, West Virginia, taken on 4
Apr 1930, shows William H. Bedwell, 33, a butcher for Piggly Wiggly, as head
of household with: Stella L., 23, his wife of three years; and son William H.
Jr., 6 (or 1?) and 11/12. The parents were born in Virginia, the son in West
Virginia. They rent a house for $20/mo. William Hobert Bedwell Sr. and Stella
L. Pearman were married about 1927. Stella
L. Pearman was born about 1907 in Virginia.1568 She died before 6 Jan 2002. William Hobert
