shows John Brewington, age 34, a carpenter born in Ohio who owns $400 in real
estate and $300 in personal assets, as head of household with: Kitturah, age
24; Elizabeth, age 9; Flora, age 4; and Alice, age 1.
1870 Census for Blountsville, Henry County, Indiana, shows John Brewington,
age 43, a cabinet maker who owns $1000 in real estate and $1300 in personal assets,
as head of household consisting of: wife Kitturah, age 37; daughter Flora A.,
age 14; daughter Alice B., age 11; daughter Emily J., age 8.
This family was listed twice in the 1880 census, by two different census
takers:

age 53, a carpenter, as head of household containing: wife Kitturah, age 47;
daughter Flora A., age 24, a milliner; E.J. Merrit (unclear whether the surname
Brewington is supposed to be attached after Merrit), age 18, whose occupation
is listed as "Huckster"; Jaine W. Moore, age 55, male, whose relation
to the family and occupation is slightly unclear but looks like "Hustler"
in both cases; John W. Davis, age 38, a boarder whose occupation is listed as
boarder; and Dora E. Laub, age 14, a servant. I'm not at all sure what to make
of this listing... THEN, they are listed AGAIN some pages later like this:

age 53, a carpenter, as head of household containing: wife Kitturah, age 47;
daughter Flora A., age 24, a milliner; E.J. Merrit (unclear whether the surname
Brewington is supposed to be attached after Merrit), age 18, whose occupation
is listed as "Huckster"; J. W. Moore, age 55, male, a servant whose
occupation is listed as laborer; John W. Davis, age 38, a boarder, whose occupation
is listed as carpenter; and Dora E. Laub, age 14, a boarder with no listed occupation.
1910 Census for Licking Township, Blackford County, Indiana, taken Apr
10 1910, shows John D. Brewington, age 84, whose occupation is shown as "none
insane", as head of household including: Keturah, age 77, his wife of 60
years who has had five children with three still living; daughter Flora A., age
51, single, a saleslady at a department store; and Frank Siders, age 44, a widowed
boarder who works as a laborer in a glass works. Based on his age and the listing
under occupation, it sounds like Mr. Brewington may have been a victim of Alzheimer's
Disease. Keturah Bedwell and John D. Brewington were married on 1 Sep 1850
in Henry County, Indiana.146

John D. Brewington was born in Greene County, Ohio, Sept. 25, 1826, a son of
Daniel R. and Frances Brewington, his father a native of Maryland and his mother
of Virginia. His early life was spent with his parents, and when twenty three
years of age he came to Henry County, Ind., and worked at the cooper's trade
seven years, and since then has worked at the carpenter's trade and carried on
an undertaker's establishment. He is also proprietor of the hotel in Blountsville.
He served as Justice of the Peace six years and as Township Assessor six years.
He is a member of Blountsville Lodge, No. 305, IOOF; Blountsville Lodge, No.
331, F. & A. M.; and David N. Kimball Post, No. 204, G.A.R. He enlisted
Feb. 20, 1864, in the One Hundred and Twenty-fourth Indiana Infantry and participated
in several battles and skirmishes. He has a sword which he captured from a rebel
during a conflict. He was detailed Quartermaster-Sergeant, holding the position
six months. He was mustered out at Greensboro, N.C., and discharged at Indianapolis,
Aug. 1, 1865. Mr. Brewington married KETURAH BEDWELL. To them have been born
five children -- Elizabeth J., Flora A., Eimsley, J. M., Frances E. and Alice
B., the latter two deceased. Politically Mr. Brewington is a Republican. Keturah
