2. Thomas Bedwell^8,9 was born before 1662.¹⁰ He died between 18 Nov 1716 and 6 Nov 1717 in Sussex County, Delaware.¹¹


Thomas Bedwell was a member of the Pennsylvania Assembly in 1697 and a member of the Pennsylvania Governor's Council from Kent Co., which was still part of Pennsylvania, in 1700. He also served at various times as Tax Collector, Appraiser, Sheriff, High Sheriff, and Justice in Kent County, and Associate Justice of Sussex County Supreme Court in Lewis, Delaware from 1710-1717.

IN THE SECRETARIES OFFICE includes: Thomas Bedwell, late of the County of Kent, but now of Lewis, in Sussex, desires (by his Letter to J. Steel) that he might have a Grant of Two or three Bank Lotts on the Creek in Lewis, which he proposes to Improve, but there being no Such Grants in that Town for the Bank on the creek as yet, it is left to further Consideration.

Thomas Bedwell and Mellicent Hewthat were married about 1689 in Kent County, Delaware. Mellicent Hewthat^12,13 (daughter of Thomas Heatherd and Anna [--?--]) was born about 1671. She was also known as Malecent Heatherd.

The will of Thomas Hewthat probated 24 December 1695 names his daughter, Mellicent Bedwell. (CALENDAR OF KENT COUNTY, DELAWARE PROBATE RECORDS 1680-1800, Page 18). Thomas Bedwell and Mellicent Hewthat had the following children:

Thomas Bedwell and Honor Hulings were married 1 JAN 1699/00 in Kent County, Delaware.¹⁹ Honor Hulings²⁰ (daughter of ) was born in 1660 in Probably Rhode Island. She died after 1700.

Honor Hulings was the widow of William Clark of Sussex Co., Delaware.
