Winnie & Claude were given the land by Willie's parents (Joel & Lois
Wymore) where they built their first home. This land was part of a tract owned
by Joel & Lois which was bounded by Belleview Avenue (on the South), Palm
(on the East), and Kanai Avenue (on the North). The current address would be
approximately W. Belleview in Porterville, Tulare, California. In approximately
1930, a person walking in the field behind the house, tossed a cigarette in dry
grass. The resulting fire burned the home to the ground when the then Porterville
Fire Chief - Ross Gardner would not allow city fire trucks to fight the fire
because the home was just across the city boundary in the county.

"DAUGHTER OF PIONEER FAMILY DIES
Mrs. Winnie Mae Bradley, 62, daughter of a pioneer Porterville area family, passed
away early today at a Lindsay hospital following a long illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Myers Chapel and internment
will be in the family plot at Porterville Cemetery.
A native of Joplin, MO., Mrs. Bradley had resided in Porterville for the past
60 years, her parents being pioneer settlers of the Westfield district northwest
of the city. She was a member of Pythian Sisters, Order of the Eastern Star,
Rebekahs, Women's Benefit Association, and of the First Christian Church.
She was married to December 1908 to Claude P. Bradley who passed away in 1949.
Mrs.. Bradley is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Howard Smith and Mrs. John Della,
and three sons, Donald, Keith and Richard Bradley, all of Porterville; a brother,
Don Wymore of Springville; and by seven grandchildren.
Members of the family request that no flowers be sent. Contributions may be
made to the American Cancer Society as memorials to Mrs. Bradley."

"BRADLEY - In Lindsay, on July 25, 1952, Mrs. Winnie Mae Bradley, 62, a
native of Missouri; loving mother of Mrs. Howard Smith, Mrs. John Della, Donald,
Keith and Richard Bradley; adored sister of Don Wymore. Funeral services will
be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the Myers Chapel, and internment will be in
the family plot in Porterville Cemetery."

"CLAUD BRADLEY, HERE 45 YEARS, PASSES AWAY
Claud P. Bradley, 62, a resident of Porterville for the past 45 years, passed
away at a local hospital Thursday afternoon following a long illness. Funeral
services will be held at the Myers Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning with
the Rev. W. Lawrence Wells of the First Christian Church officiating. Internment
will be in the Porterville Cemetery.
Mr. Bradley was a native of Sparta, Tennessee., and came to Porterville 45 years
ago to engage in the plumbing business. He later started the Bradley Funeral
Home, which he sold in 1944 when ill health forced his retirement from business.
He was a member of the local Fraternal Order of Eagles and of the Knights of
Pythias Lodge. Mr. Bradley is survived by his wife, Mrs. Winnie Mae Bradley;
two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Smith and Miss Lois Bradley; three sons, Donald,
Keith and Richard Bradley; tow grandchildren, Neil and Claudia Smith; and a nephew,
Charles Metcalf, all of Porterville. He also is survived by a sister, Mrs. Pearl
Copeland, and a brother, Roy Bradley, both of Sparta, Tenn." Winnie Maye
