"GERTIE MAE EVANS
Gertie Mae Evans, daughter of W.C. Bonine and Janie Burchfiel Bonine was born
Nov. 15, 1886 on a farm south of Anthony, Kansas, and passed away Aug. 4, 1962
at the age of 75 years, 8 months, and 20 days at the Anthony Hospital. She has
been a Christian and affiliated with the First Church of God many years. Preceding
her in death were her father and mother and one sister; her husband J.O. Evans;
2 infant children; and one grown son, Harold C. Evans in 1942. She is survived
by one son, Orville Evans and daughter-in-law Jennie of Idaho Falls, Idaho; one
daughter, Vineta Eslinger and son-in-law, Paul of Anthony; two brothers, Claude
Bonine of Kansas City, Missouri, and Floyd Bonine of Wakita, Oklahoma; two sisters,
Jessie Walker of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Alto Douglass of Holton, Kansas;
six grandchildren, Wayne Evans of Redding, California, Jack and Walter Evans,
both of Arco, Idaho, Robert Harold Evans, on a ship USS Hawkins, located in Cuba,
Phillip Eslinger of Wichita, and Lois Wortley of Howe, Idaho; nine great-grandchildren,
who all reside in Idaho except the youngest, little 7-week old Diana Lynn Eslinger
of Wichita, Kansas; one aunt, Mrs. Sam Frazier of Manchester, Oklahoma; other
relatives and a host of friends. She was a kind mother and during her four years
of sickness, did very little complaining and relied upon God's promise, "that
my grace is sufficient for thee". She spent much time singing gospel hymns
and reading the Bible. Interment was in the Burchfiel Cemetery."
