World War I Draft Registration card shows Jesse George Bedwell, born Nov.
6, 1899, a resident of Redstone, Sheridan County, Montana. He is a farmer employed
by Henry Bedwell, who is also listed as his closest relative. Jesse Bedwell
is of medium height and weight, has no physical problems, and has blue eyes and
brown hair. The card was signed on Sept 17, 1918.
1930 Census for School District 2, Sheridan County, Montana shows Jessie
G. Bedwell, age 31, a "drayman, own dray bin", as head of household
with: wife Riborg M., age 25, born in Norway; daughter Shirley, age 2 and 6/12;
and son Jessie G. Jr., age 1/12. When this couple was married is unclear; he
is listed as first married at age 25, she at 21. They rent a house for $5/mo.
An article in The Helena Independent newspaper on January 12, 1941
reads: Joseph Gunderson, 18, was instantly killed when a car he was driving
and a truck hauling ice collided at the crest of a hill half a mile south of
Navajo last night. His brother, George Gunderson, 15, died four hours after
the accident. Gene Hatfield, another passenger in the Gunderson car, suffered
serious injuries. Jes Bedwell of Redstone, driver of the truck, and two passengers
with him were not injured.

sister of Henry Grafton Bedwell.):
Jesse Bedwell was born at Rippey,Iowa, oldest son of Henry and Ella Bedwell
and came to Redstone, MT with his folks in 1916, settling on a farm a few miles
from Redstone. Riborg (Bentsen) Bedwell was born in Norway, daughter of Ole and
Fofie Bentsen, and came to the US while a small child. The family settled south
of the Redstone Community where she grew up. Jesse and Riborg were married 11-25-25
at Plentywood. They lived in Redstone, where for several years, Jesse operated
the city dray line and they also operated the Redstone Cafe which Riborg continued
to operate after Jesse passed away 1-14-57. She retired in 1975, but continued
to live in Redstone. They have a daughter, Shirley, Mrs Harry Loucks Jr. and
a son Jesse of Frazer, 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Riborg passed
away 3-14-84.
