River Dragged in 4-H Girl Search

Pikeville, Tenn., Dec. 21 -- (AP) Searchers planned to resume their dragging of a river today in their efforts to solve the disappearance of Evelene Bedwell, attractive 18-year-old 4-H club worker.
Nearly 100 men have combed nearby wooded areas since her disappearance from her home near here early Saturday.
Evelene's father, Sam Bedwell, said she had "acted strangely" the night before her disappearance.

• Her death certificate states that she drowned about Dec 17, 1949 but was not found until Jan 24, 1950. Her death was ruled a suicide.
