BEECHER Genealogy

Beecher Genealogy

The Beecher family history is representative of the history of Americans. We have famous people, we have infamous people, and many who have helped shape America by raising their families and contributing to their communities.

From the Beginning

This branch of the Beecher family finds its beginnings in Kent, England in 1594 with the birth of John Beecher. John was the first Beecher to arrive in the New World, arriving on the ship Hector in 1637. John did not survive the first winter. Wife Hannah arrived the following spring with her son Isaac, and found her husband had been buried in an unmarked grave. Isaac Beecher, b. 1623, Kent, England - d.1690, New Haven, CT, married Mary F. Sperry. They had five sons: John, Joseph, Isaac, Samuel, and Eleazer. This family line is descended from Eleazer, 1655 - 1725, "Elizer, son of Isack".

The family migrated to Milford, Connecticut area and then to New Milford, Connecticut. In the 1700s, they migrated to Hinesburgh, Vermont with several other families. Early in 1800s, the family next moved to Beaver Dams, New York. Feel free to contact me (Beechergenealogy@aol.com) for detailed information or if you have family connections.
