Biography :

The first trace of Julius Plouvier is in the 1860 census, a stone cutter, 26 y.o., working at Smithland, Livingston Co.,  Kentucky. No trace of him in the 1870 census but in 1880 he was living in Louisville still a stone cutter and married to ‘Tillie’ (Ottelia or Adelia) Kern. They were married on January 25, 1868 at Jefferson, Ky and had 5 childran, all daughters: Mary 12 y.o.,Tillie, 10 y.o., Josephine 8 y.o.; Amelia 3 y.o. and Anna, 1 y.o. He stated being born France from Belgian parents.

Searching for other members of the Plouvier family I found that a Paul Plouvier emigrated from Belgium, arriving at new York on October 23, 1865 on ship Pennsylvania. Paul Alexander Plouvier was 56 y.o. and with his children Prosper 23 y.o., Felix 19 y.o. and Rosalie 12 y.o. they settled in Prices, Larue Co., Ky. Paul Plouvier was a gardener and stated being born Belgium from French parents. The only relationship with Julius is in Paul last will when he died in 1889. The names cited where: Julius, Felix, Prosper, Kathrine and Rosalie.

Julius Plo(u)vier was admitted to the Soldiers' Home, Central Branch, in June 1890. He stated suffering of disease of eyes occurred after the siege of Vicksburg in August 1863 and his wife Otilda living at Louisville, Market Street. In 1895 he was transferred to the Marrion Branch were he was discharged on surgeon certificate in may 1897. His death occurred in Louisville on March 20, 1900, 64 y.o., from cerebral hemorraghy. He is buried Cave hill National Cemetery, section C site 4121. Ottelia died on may 14, 1916 and is buried Portland Cemetery.
