1810 Federal Census Jefferson County, New York - NNYGenealogy

Northern New York Genealogy

Currently the 1810 Federal Census includes the Towns of Adams (full), Brownville (full), Ellisburg (full), Henderson (full), Hounsfield (full), Watertown (full). The other towns and family information are currently underdevelopment and will be posted once complete.

This is the first Census after Jefferson County became a County in 1805. Therefore it represents the foundation from which all other Census can be compared.

Enumerators were asked to include the following groups:

- Name of head of household,
- Free white males and females in age groups of 0 to 10, 10 to 15, 16 to 25,
   26 to 44 and 45 and older,
- Number of other free persons except Indians not taxed,
- Number of slaves,
- Town / District and County of residence.

Eventually we will include the counts for free white males and females for all of the Towns. Also we plan on adding a name search once all of the Towns have been indexed.
