FAQ for the Thompson Site

Frequently Asked Questions & Answers

Question No. 1:

How can I find my family in this site?

Answer No. 1:

There are several ways of finding your family in this site. Locate the Index or Table of Contents for the site. Then look for Little Benonie's Children. Clicking this item on the menu will take you to an Index listing Benonie's children. Clicking on any of the names will take you to their children, etc. I am still in process of adding names and genealogical information to the site. In time, we will have most descendants listed in this site - or, at least, that is our objective.

Some day after the site is fully updated, we may furnish a full index of all names in the site.

Question No. 2

Why is a "Smith" interested in the "Thompson Family"?

Answer No. 2
I am a Thompson descendant through my mother, Allie Mae Thompson and my children and grandchildren are Thompson descendants. descendants. I enjoy genealogy and I enjoy using a computer and the Internet. I am setting up web sites for our other family lines. If any of you are interested in establishing a site - for any reason - let me know and I may be able to assist you. There are a number of "free" sites available and HTML is relatively easy to learn.
Question No. 3
Some of the information about my family is either incorrect, or needs to be updated with new spouses, children, dates, etc. How may I make the corrections?
Answer No. 3
There are several ways to accomplish this.
  1. You can use the update form
  2. Send me an E-mail
  3. You can mail me the information at the following address:
    Charles H. Smith
    557 Avenue E
    Bayonne, NJ 07002-3917
  4. You can fax me at (201) 437-3169.
Question No. 4
I see that you have some photos and I want to add some of my own family. How can I do this?
Answer No. 4
There are several ways to get your photos published on this site.
  1. You can scan your photos and send the file (JPG, BMP, GIF, TIF) etc. to me as an e-mail attachment -if it is a "comfortable" size - less than 1 meg in size. It it is larger, you can use a graphics program to reduce the size. A JPG or GIF is usually easier to resize without losing too much detail.
  2. You can mail the original photos to me and I will scan them and send the originals back to you by priority mail within a day or two after receipt. I realize you may be reluctant to do this with "one of a kind" photos, but I have an excellent track record of handling and returning original documents. Ask me for references.
  3. Or, you can have the photos copied at a local photo shop and send me the copies by regular mail.
