Nettie Josephine Woods was born January 24, 1907 in Overton, Rusk County,
Texas right before the family moved to Mangum, Oklahoma. She was the daughter
of Louis Cemore Thompson and Lillie Josie Odom.
Nettie married Robert Henry Woods May 23,
1926. They had three children.
She moved to California to be close to her daughters in later years. She had a
very sweet disposition.
Nettie died August 18, 1998 of bone cancer.
Robert Henry Woods was born January 16, 1908. He was employed as a
maintenance engineer for a manufacturing plant in Altus, Oklahoma for a number
of years. Then, in the 1940's, he moved to Oklahoma City where he became
employed by Rothchilds as maintenance engineer. Later on, he became a
bricklayer since he had learned the trade in his youth, and after World War
II, when construction was booming, he was able to make a better living.
Unfortunately, he fell off of a scaffold in Alabama and was killed. He was
buried in Oklahoma City, OK.
Nettie Thompson Woods finished high school at Mangum, Oklahoma. She went to
Hill's Business College in Oklahoma City in 1957, and worked at Goodwill
Industries in the personnel ofice for almost 15 years.
