Nugent Family Photos, ca 1917

Nugent family photos – Empire Prairie, ca 1917
Tom Simkin September 2006

These two photographs were in one of many scrapbooks made by my grandmother, Eva Nugent Commons. They are the first photos I’ve seen of several family members, and they make – for me – a very exciting find. I have scanned the two prints, and taken a first shot at identifications and continue to work on them. I hope that other family members, with different collections of old photographs, will be able to assist in identification.

Small Group (Nugent 1916.jpg):

My grandmother labeled this “One of my father’s sisters with grandchildren,” and I think it is a stern-looking Susannah, with the children of Frank and Anna Bennett Troupe, in the winter of 1916-17.

Large Group (Nugent1917.jpg):

Grandma’s only label on this one is the arrow and the name “John Nugent.” The photo next to it in the scrapbook is labeled “My father’s brothers and sisters” and is the same group of 6 that is on my Nugent contribution to John’s web page (Fig. 4).
