I do not know the name of the sister who married John Tate, but a sister, Elizabeth, married John McCleary and William married first Rebecca McCleary in 1776 at Fairfax Court House, Augusta Co, Va, and Margaret Collins 2nd in St. Louis Co Mo, a niece of John, all of Virginia.

John McCleary gives bond for title for 185 acres in Woodford Co, KY on Glenn’s Creek on the road leading from Woodford courthouse to Frankfort and being a part of John Holly’s settlement whereon William Scott now lives. This bond for title was made to Reuben Searcy or Robert Patterson.

Witnesses: Edmund Searey, John Berry, James Dunn, Charles Pegman.

Elizabeth McClary and George W. McCleary of Woodford county buy 60 acres in Woodford Co. for $150.00 being the land whereon the said Elizabeth now lives on the waters of Clenn Creek between Virgil McCracken’s preemption and Samuel Estill’s preemption. The bought the above tract from Robert Johnson, “surviving trustee for John Craig”. No witnesses.

Agreeable to an order of the worshipful Court of Woodford County at their April Court 1810 to us the undersigned Commissioners directed to divide the estate of John McClary Decd. as in said order mentioned do report that there is six negroes belonging to said estate which we value as follows, to wit: Hannah, $265.00; Lucy, $333.33; Nel, $400.00, Lewis, $280.00; Eliza, $280.00; and Joe $120.00 amounting in the whole to $1578.33, the widow’s right of dower to $526.22 leaving a balance of $1052.22 to be divided among Legatees, to each $150.31.

The Estate of John McClary, deceased, in account with Elizabeth McClary administratrix. In accordance with an order of the County Court of Woodford County to us directed to settle with the administratrix of John McClary deceased her administration of said decedents Estate we find the amount of the sales of said Estate to be $396.27, also we find within the hands of said administratrix vouchers for money for debts paid to the amt. of $340.40 ....We also have proceeded to allot to the widow her dower in the same estate as follows: one negro woman named Hannat at price of $250.00; one negro boy named Joe at price of $400.00; the whole valuation of the slaves being $2050.00 the widow’s proportion of which is $683.33 1/3 and after a final settlement wefind her indebtedness to the estate $4.18. We finally report that we could not divide the balance of the Estate among the Legatees in consequence of there not being as many slaves as Legatees.
Given under our hands this the 30th day of August 1817.

We, John McClary, Samuel Trotter and Nancy his wife, late Nancy McClary, do appoint John McClary of Scott Co, KY our lawful attorney to convey to Nathaniel Hart our interest in 185 acres of land on Glenn’s Creek in Woodford County. Said land was conveyed to John McClary, deceased, by Reuben Searcy.
Acknowledgement:
State of Ohio, Miami County. John McClary, of said state and county appeared before two justices of the peace and acknowledged the above to be his voluntary deed and act.
State of Ohio, Warren County. Samuel Trotter and Nancy, his wife, acknowledge the above power of attorney to be their voluntary deed and act.
