Fern Masteller

Class of 1914
Rochester High School
Fulton County, Indiana

Generations ago on the sands of time,
The class of ’14 entered this rhyme.
We’ll now proceed to read their palms.

Bessie McKee and sister Pearl
O’re the world their reforms will hurl
As ardent members of the W.C. T. U.
Will give all sinners their just due.

Elva Snyder will astonish the world
As her journalistic hopes become unfurled.

Madame Fern is a singer of note
And Carmen P. “Let the Women Vote”.

Karl Becker is an expert in mixing dirt,
His incubator exploded and he was seriously hurt.

Aubra’s on a farm, and in a flutter
For Laura’s the wife who makes his butter.

Elsie is now a Chemistry Prof.
And as of old will make you laugh.

Alvin and Dean have a bachelor’s room
A tiny small “no” has sealed their doom.

Harold and Ed in joint debates,
Have had a hard time in choosing their mates.

Margaret is one, but who is the other?
The mist clears away and we see Plymouth is ‘Tother.

Paul and Osa still sling hash
And on each girl would make a mash.

Allee comes by in a Mitchell machine
And Emil at the steering wheel is seen.

Hazel and Genevieve leave together,
And go out as nurses in all sorts of weather.

Edyth assists at each serious case,
As a great physician with a pretty face.

Alice is heard on the Edison Record,
Her voice is famous but her career checkered.

She is followed on the stage by jolly Kate,
Who, as usual, looks for a date.

Josie and Gige run an orphan’s home,
And with Peanut have written this lovely poem.
He is the star orphan of the place,
And is still talking at a furious pace.
