Parents of Henrich Sharpsteen

Henrich (1743-c.1815) and Phoebe Losee (b. c.1744) Sharpsteen and other Ancestors of John Henry Sharpsteen^{1 2}

Henrich (or Henry) Sharpsteen married Phoebe Losee on 22 Mar 1764 in New York state.  They had three known children:²

John Henry  8 Oct 1766 - 25 Oct 1848 in Leicester, Livingston Co., NY, m. c. 1786 Jane Simpson  15 Dec 1766 - 9 Jan 1840
Peter  9 Sep 1771 - 14 Sep 1845 in Michigan, m. 1797 Polly Smith b. 1776 in Dutchess Co., NY
Sarah  b. c.1781, m. 1805 John Burger b.1777

In 1790, Henry and his family were living in Washington, Dutchess Co., NY.³  In his household (listed as "Sharpstone") were four males over 16, one under 16, and eight women.  Thus it seems likely that: there were additional children not listed above, one or more of the children (e.g. John Henry) was living in Henry's household with his/her own family, or both.  It is also noteworthy that the household had one slave (slavery was not outlawed in New York until 1827).

The families John H. and Peter apparently move westward together along the path that lead through Livingston/Ontario Co., NY, Cattaraugus Co., NY, and Calhoun Co., MI. 

The sheet below¹ outlines the ancestry of John Henry Sharpsteen.  None of the information is currently documented here, but I will add references as I get them. 

There is also a Register listing at http://genforum.genealogy.com/sharpsteen/messages/5.html for Henrich Scharfenstein (b. c.1600) which traces his descendants  via. Henrich's son Theib, Johan Peter, Johan Jacob, then to John Henry Sharpsteen
