When Daphne was eleven years old her mother passed away
at the young age of 45. Her mother was a fine christian lady
who worked for a wealthy family that owned the Hassinger
Sawmill in Abingdon, Va. Prior to her death she
and the Hassingers were able to arrange for Daphne
and two of her sisters to be accepted at Foster Falls
Christian Boarding School for Girls at the expense of the
Hassingers. Daphne will be remembered by many for a lifetime
labor of love, hospitality, dedication, faithfulness,
Sunday-School teaching/knowledge of the Bible.
Due to health in general (and vision/hearing) she gave up
driving in her eighties and had to give up her personal
