    Per Tim Stephenson's interview with Bertie Stephenson:
    "Bertie was not Grandma's real name. It was a nickname that she later had changed to her legal name. She couldn't remember how she got the nickname. But she said she thought she was talking a lot and someone said she sounded like a little bird chattering.
    She told me that when she was a teenager that she was interested in both Papaw a;nd one of his cousins, but I can't remember which one. She said that she went to "play parties" with both of them. She said that she decided she liked Guy Edward more. She said that one day they were putting on a play at the school house and Papaw came to pick her up in the wagon. They drove to the school, but it looked like a thunder storm was coming up. So they canceled the practice and everyone started to go home. She said they had gotten dressed up to go to play practice. So on the way home, as she and Papaw were passing by the preacher's house they decided to stop and get married. Papaw went in and got the preacher, who came out to the side of the road, or yard, and married them. She said that they got back into the wagon and Papaw drov her back to her house. And he went back to his house. They didn't tell anybody that they were married for either two weeks or two months, I can't remember which Grandma said."
