  • Mother died when he was 14 years old. His half brother Jim went to Hot Spring area and got him and brought him to Green hill. Thomas Edward Harris was born July 7, 1879 to Overton Jackson Harris and Mary Francis Caroline Lee. He married Sarah Margaret Morris (b. 1880), with whom he had 7 children: Wirner Virlee, Travis Vernon, Daphney Overton, Oleta Monette, Morris Doyle, Loren Nelson and Thomas Bernard. He died in Monticell, AR in 1951. and is buried at Green Hill Cemetery, Drew CO., AR. Thomas Edward Harris was born July 7, 1879 to Overton Jackson Harris and Mary Francis Caroline Lee. It was during this time he lived with the family of James Madison Stephenson, his half-brother and son of Caroline Lee and Silas Austin Stephenson. He is listed in the 1900 Census, Drew Co., AR with the Stephenson family (Arkansas, Drew County, Roll 58 Book 1, Page 75): The 1910 Census, Drew Co, AR reports Thomas Edward, Margaret, Wirner, Travis, Daphney, and a border named Edgar Miles. (Arkansas, DREW, Roll 49 Book 2, Page 197a,b) NOTES: In the 1900 Census, Thomas's father (Overton) is reported as being born in Georgia, and mother (Caroline) was born in Mississippi. However, in the 1910 Census (in which Thomas would be reporting the data as head of household), he listed his mother's birthplace as Tennessee.
