Overton Jackson Harris was born in abt 1829 in Georgia and died July 5, 1889 in Arkansas.
He married (first wife unknown), with whom he had five children: Mary J. (born May 15, 1866), Clemel Glen (born March 11, 1868), Overton Pleasant (born March 13, 1870), Lucinda Elizabeth (born Jun 7, 1872) and Francis Eliza (born October 7, 1874).
He married Mary Francis Caroline Lee on September 1, 1878. Caroline (born Nov. 18,1838 in Mississippi, died 1894) had had previously been married to Silas Austin Stephenson (m. Oct 8, 1855) with whom she had four children: Mary E, John Henry, James Madison and William Arkie.
Overton Jackson and Mary Francis Caroline had two children: Thomas Edward (b. July 7,1879) and Henry Jackson (b. Feb 17,1881).
Overton Jackson Harris was born in about 1828 in Georgia and died July 5, 1889 in Arkansas.
There is an Overton J. Harris reported in the Civil War Soldier Index (GEORGIA CIVIL WAR SOLDIER INDEX - Page 128): GSI# 82283 Harris Overton J. Company K 56th Inf. Reg't. This would seem to fit with his first marriage in 1866, at age 36 or 37.

In the 1870 Census (see copy below), Matilda Harris (22yr old female, born in LA) is listed in the Overton Harris House (Overton was 42 at the time). Matilda may be an eldest daughter, first wife or sister. The census did not list relation information that year.
