  • James DEALE was born about 1701 in , Calvert, Maryland. He Land Bought on 4 Jun 1735 in , Anne Arundel, Maryland. Between 1735 and 1737 he purchased parcels of Ram Gott Swamp located on the Herring Bay. George Chocks sold him 1/3 part tract land which was originally laid out as 240 acres called Ram Gott Swamp for 16 pounds, 5 schilling. He Land Bought on 22 Aug 1737 in , Anne Arundel, Maryland. This was his second purchase and was from Wm. and Eliz. Wooterhis for 1/3 parcel of Ram Gott Swamp for 40 pounds sterling. He Land Bought on 2 Nov 1737 in , Anne Arundel, Maryland. The final 1/3 parcel he bought from George and Rebecca Allen for 50 pounds sterling. He was a witness to the will of several people between 1740 and 1769. These were in 1740, 1744, 1750, 1757, and 1769. He was a witness to the will of Samuel MacCubbin on 12 Jun 1745. He appraised the estate of Abraham Simmons in 1747. This was done with Jacob Franklin, his sister-in-law's (wife's sister) husband. He signed a will on 26 Jan 1774 in , Anne Arundel, Maryland. The will was witnessed by John Norman, Benjamin Norman and John Peacock. An abstract states: "to my beloved son - William Deale...80 acres of my land to be laid of to him at the upper end of my land next and adjoining the land formally called Ranger to him and the heirs my will is the said 80 acres of land go to my son John Deale and his heirs forever. son - John Deale...all remaining part of my land to him and his heirs forever. son - John Deale...one Negro man named Daniel with all my wearing apparel to him and his heirs. daughter - Margaret Norman...one Negro boy named Herculus and the mulatto girl named Nan. daughter - Mary Coale's two children Phillip and William Coale...5 pounds in anything belonging to my estate excepting a young Negro if it be paid in money it shall be in romman money. son - William Deale...one Negro man named Newark. all remaining...to my several children namely Thomas Deale, Rebecca Medcalf, Elizabeth Brunt, John Deale, William Deale and Margaret Norman." He died after 26 Jan 1774 in , Anne Arundel, Maryland. He estate was inventoried on 15 Jan 1775 in , Anne Arundel, Maryland. It's total value was 474 pounds, 18 shilling, 4 pence.
