Mrs.
Mattie Cambron Was Former Tulsan
Coweta, July 22 - Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Pearl Cambron, 79, a
pre-statehood Oklahoman, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First
Christian Church ere.
Mrs. Cambron, who came to Oklahoma in 1902 in a covered wagon, died Monday
at her farm home near here. She was a native of Independence, Missouri.
Following the covered-wagon trip, she moved to a ranch near Anadarko in
1905. Mrs. Cambron moved to Tulsa in 1913 and lived there until 1935
when she moved to the nearby Coweta farm.
She was a member of the Coweta First Christian Church and the Shahan Home
Demonstration Club. Mrs. Cambron also held membershiip in the Wheeling
Avenue Christian church of Tulsa.
Survivors include her husband, John H. Cambron; two sons, Marcus Cambron,
405 S. 776h East Ave., Tulsa, and Marlin Cambron, Healdton; a daughter
Mrs. Anthony Walaitis, 1916 North Main St., Tulsa; two
brothers,
Simon Best, Muskogee and Homer Best , Phoenix, Arizona; two granchildren
and four great grandchildren.
Interment will be in Memorial Park cemetery in Tulsa under direction of
the Wright funeral home, Coweta.

Services
for Harold Byron Carr, 63, Clever were held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Clever
First Baptist Church with the Revs. Mark Wakefield and Ermon Webb officiating.
Burial was in Frazier Cemetery under the directions of Meadors of Clever.
Mr. Carr died at 9:25 a.m. Tuesday in Mount Vernon State Chest Hospital
after a long illness. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Boaz
and a Mason. He was also a retired truck driver for Roadway. Survivors
include his wife, Mabel; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Carr, Clever;
two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Gamble, Chicago, and Carolyn Crow, state of
Alabama; a brother, Hardy, Springfield; and five grandchildren.
Note:

10:30 a.m. Thursday, Messiah Lutheran Church. Survivors: sons James E.
of Tampa, Danny L. of Wichita; daughters, Doreen Sutton of Hermosa Beach,
Calif., Doris Lowe, Marlene, both of Topeka; brother Herman Gramke of Reed
Springs, Mo; sisters, Amanda Gramke, Lorena Gramke, both of Emporia; 12
grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; eight step-great- grandchildren.
Memorial has been established with the Parkinson's Disease Research Foundation,
Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.

Springfield,
MO - Verna E. “Cook” Beck, 83, Springfield, died at 10:59 p.m. Thursday
in St. John’s Regional Health Center.
She
was a retired Registered Nurse and a graduate of the Old Springfield, Baptist
Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of Grace United Methodist
Church.
She
is survived by two sisters, Flossie Thompson, Aurora, Mo., and Bonnie Raper,
Springfield; four nephews, James, Max, and Roger Raper, Springfield, and
Dennis Thompson, Pittsburg, Pa.; and one niece, Maryan Smith, Springfield.
She was preceded in death by a niece, Ila Lee Thompson, Aurora, Mo.
Services
will be at 11 a.m. today in Klinger Chapel with Rev. Charles Holt officiating.
Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Sophia Ann Cook, 85, of
673 South Jefferson, died at ?:40 a.m. Thursday in Springfield Baptist
Hospital where she had been a patient one month. She had suffered from
a lingering illness.
A native of Stone county,
she had been a resident of Springfield the past 36 years. She was a member
of the Grace Methodist Church.
Surviving are three daughters,
Mrs. Verna Beck, of Route 12, Mrs. Bonnie Raper, of 1850 East Delmar, and
Mrs. Flossie Thompson , Marionville.
Other survivors include
a brother, Roland Lee of Springfield, a half-sister, Miss Bonnie
Lee Briscoe of the state of Oklahoma; six grandchildren, [?] great-grandchildren,
and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will
be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Chapel of the Ozarks with the Rev. Glen Jones
and the Rev. Don Enright officiating.

MRS.
DESSIE COPE DIES AFTER A FALL
Mrs.
Dessie Cope, 68, died at her home in Mountain township Friday, July 2,
1948 following a fall at her home. Whether the fall caused her passing
is not known since it may have been from a hemorrhage or dizziness from
high blood pressure. She was born December 26, 1884. She had been in poor
health for some time and returned to bed after preparing breakfast and
did not arise.
Mrs.
Cope was a daughter of the late Wm. Wiley of the Scholten community and
was married to Orra Cope in 1899. He preceded her in death 27 years ago.
Survivors are her sons and daughters, Glen and Hilda Cope of the home;
Chester Cope, Kansas City; William Cope, Long Beach, Calif.; Gale Cope,
Cassville; George Cope, Tehachapi, Calif.; Bud Cope, Golden; Mrs. Jess
Hancock, Cape Fair; Mrs. Hugh Parks, Springfield and Mrs. Milford Eaton,
Crane; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Allbright and Mrs. Tella Salsman, Los Angeles,
Calif., and two brothers Lloyd Wiley, Crane, and Ross T. Wiley, California.
A brother Claude Wiley, preceded her in death.
Mrs.
Cope was a consistent member of the Church of Christ and was held in the
highest esteem and confidence by all who knew her as an outstanding woman
of the community where she had spent her life.
Funeral
services were held at Scholten Monday afternoon by Brother Morton Woodward,
with burial in the family plot in Mars Hill Cemetery. Friends extend their
most sincere sympathy to the bereaved.

RECEIVES
WORD OF DEATH OF FORMER AREA RESIDENT (MRS. FLORA COPE)
Mrs.
Roy Renner received a call Saturday night telling her of the death of her
aunt, Mrs. John (Flora) Cope of Bakersfield, Calif. Mrs. Cope passed away
Friday night from a stroke suffered two weeks earlier. Mrs. Cope, the former
Flora Hilton, daughter of the late Alfred and Mary Ann Russell Hilton was
born and raised in the Scholten Community, later moving to North Dakota,
returning to Aurora in the late 1920's and moving to Bakersfield in the
early 1930's. She was 85 years of age. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs.
Aleen Martin, three sons, Dick, Dean and Duane all of California and several
grandchildren. Her husband and two sons preceded her in death.
Funeral
services were held there Monday afternoon with burial in Bakersfield.
Besides
Mrs. Renner, Mrs. Cope is survived by nephews, Francis Wilson and Blaine
Hilton and a niece Mrs. Jewell Holderman all of Crane and Mrs. Ann Lee
Hill of Mt. Vernon, also several cousins in the Crane and Aurora area.
A grandson, Gerald Cope, resides near Jenkins and her daughter-in-law Mrs.
Clema Cope in Cassville.

GEORGIA A COPE

Mrs. Georgia Cope, only sister of O. Scott, died at her home in Crane
Friday Oct 27, aged 62 years and 8 months.
She had not been well for several months, but was not seriously ill but
a few days. She was a very devoted member of the Chruch Of God, and was
ready to go to meet the Christ in whom she had an abiding faith.
She leaves four daughters and six sons to mourn the loss of a loving mother.
The funeral was preached at the Christian Church by Rev. Thomas to a large
gathering of friends, and the body was laid to rest in the Crane Cemetery
Sat. at 2 O'Clock p.m.
Mr. and Mrs. O. Scott and Mrs. A. L. Walters of Galena attended the services.

Mr. Costlow died at 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct2, 1983 at St. John's Regional Health
Center, Springfield, after a short illness.
Survivors include three brothers, Uhl and Leon, both of Marionville, and
Lee, Jenkins; and four sisters, Mable Jones, Ben Arnold, Texas, Margaret

GALENA-Clairus Ranson Costlow, 65, Route 3, was found dead Saturday afternoon
near Buttermilk Springs on Stone County Y. Death, was attributed to natural
causes, but is being investigated by Stone County authorities.
A Veteran of World War ll Mr Costlow is survived by his mother, Maude Costlow,
Marionville, four brothers, Uhl and Bill, both of Cape Fair, Leon and Lee,
both of Marionville, four sisters, Mrs Mabel Jonas, New Braunfels TX, Mrs.
Margaret Mitchell, Rogers, Ark, Mrs Norisene Ervine, Little Rock, Calif,
and Mrs. Rosalea Hayworth, Rogers.
Grave side services were at 4 P.M. Sunday in Cape Fair cemetery with Clarence
Pearch officiating. Burial was under direction of Cheatham-Stumpff of Galena.

RANSOM COSTLOW, CAPE FAIR FARMER DIES.

Cassville Mo, March 20. James Ransom Costlow, 69 years old died at 9:15
o'clock this morning at his home in Cape Fair, 20 miles east of here. Death
was attributed to a cerebral hemorrhage. Mr Costlow was a lifetime resident
of Cape Fair and was a farmer.
Survivors are his wife, Maude May, five sons, Joseph E, Clairus, Wilbur,
Leon and Lee Nelson Costlow of Cape Fair, and four daughters, Miss Fern
Costlow of the home, Mrs Margaret Taylor of Cape Fair, Mrs Norisene Graves
of Reed Springs, Mo and Mrs Mable Jonas of New Brussels, Tex.
Funeral services and burial was under direction of the Koon Funeral Home.

LEON COSTLOW. GALENA- Funeral services for Mrs Ida Lorine Costlow, 53,
Route 1, Marionville, was at 2 P.M. Friday in the First Baptist Church
here with the Rev. Hugh Higgs officiating. Burial was in Galena Cemetery
with Cheatham-Stumpff in charge.
Mrs. Costlow died at 7 A.M. Tuesday in St. John's Hospital, Springfield,
after a short illness. She was a member of the Pentecostal church.
Survivors are her husband, Leon; two brothers, Siegal Batson, Aurora, and
Bill Batson, Hot Springs, Ark; two sisters, Mrs. Vergie Jones, Cape Fair,

CRANE--Funeral
services for Riley Edward Costlow, 72, Crane, was at 2 p.m. Tuesday in
Phelps Commity Church northwest of Mt. Vernon with Rev. James Dobyns officiating.
Burial was in Goss Cemetery near Phelps.
A native of Cape Fair, Mr. Costlow died at 9:50 p.m. Saturday in the state
sanatorium at Mt. Vernon after a lingering illness. A former employee of
state santatorium, he was a member of the Christian Church here.
Surviving
are two brothers, James, Baxter Springs, Kan., and Willard, Route 2, Miller;
and two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Jones , Galena, and Mrs. Elsie McGowen, Route
2, Miller.

Funeral Services for Burnel Frederick Curtis, 63, Route 1, Galena
were at 2 p.m. August 26 at the Crossroads Church with the Revs.Harold
Brown and Glen Wilson officiating. Burial was in the Nolan Cemetery under
the direction of Cantrell-Stumpff of Crane.
Mr Curtis died at 10:45 a.m. August 24 at St. Johns's Hospital in Springfield
where he had been a patient four weeks.
A member of the pentecostal church, Mr. Curtis was a retired carpenter.
he was a longtime resident of Stone County.
Survivors include his wife, Jewell; six daughters, Mrs Jane Cheney, of
Bonne Terre, Mrs. Katherin Henry, of Aurora, Mrs. Bertha Branstetter, and
Mrs. Loretta Williams, both of Crane, Mrs. June Johnson, of Galena, and
Mrs. Janet Bicklein, of Belleville, Ill.; one step-son, Dewey Williams,

of Illinois; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Williams, of Newton, Ill., and Mrs.
Freda Duffer, of Eldorado, Ill., and Mrs. Pauline New of Fairfield, Ill.;
20 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
