RICHARD HARRY NEWTON
     Richard Harry Newton, of Elizabeth, Arkansas, son of the late John Herny and Veda Ethel (Skelton) Newton was born May 29, 1936 in Elizabeth, Arkansas. He departed this life Sunday morning at the Baxter County Regional Hospital in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 59 years, nine months and three days.
     Richard was united in marriage to Peggy Jean Carney, daughter of Marvin and Opal Carney, on Feburuary 16, 1957 in Sacramento, California and to this union three daughters were born. He spent his working years as a husband, father, grandfather and as a dairy farmer. He served on the Viola School Board, Farm Home Administration Board, ASCS Board, Tax Equalization Board and the Baxer County Regional Hospital Advisory Board.
     He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Peggy Jean of the home in Elizabeth; three daughters, Cheryl Shannon and Husband Bill, Teresa Newman and husband Kent all of Elizabeth, Arkansas and Kristi Newton of the home in Elizabeth, Arkansas; three brothers, Everett Newton of Greenbrier, Arkansas, Grady Newton and Marvin Newton both of Viola, Arkansas; three sister, Veda Brazzell of Paragould, Arkansas, Ruthy Davis of Elizabeth, Arkansas and Ruby Davis of Bakersfield; four grandchildren, Jessica, Tara and Megan Shannon and Samantha Newman; many nieces; nephews and other relatives and friends. he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leon and Ray Gene Williams; two sisters, Frances Ruble and an infant.
      Services were held Wednesday March 6, 1996 at the Viola Assembly of God Church with Bro. John Hodges and Bro. Eddie Passmore officiating. Pallbears were Ronald Newton, Lance Newton, Gary Newton, John Jenkins, Eugene Newton and Jeral Cummings. Honorary pallbearers were Bud Cooper, Newt Turnbow, Jerry Honey, Jim Baumunk,Ttommy Wing, Tom Walker, Sr., Don Bubbell and Junion Talburt. Interment was in the Wake Cemter, Elisabeth, Arkansas under direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem Arkansas.

Entered into rest Monday, February 26, 2001 age 93.  A native of Viola, Missouri born Sunday June 16,1907. Loving mother of Billy R. Norman of
Roseville, CA and Betty L. Windsor of Auburn, CA.  Dear grandmother of Janet Windsor Southall of Memphis, TN.  Also survived by 3 great grandchildren;  Darrin, Skyler and Travis Windsor-Cummings. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years (1926-1986) George B. Norman.  The family invites you to attend a visitation 10:00am to 3:00pm  Sunday March 4, 2001 and a funeral service 2:00 pm Monday March 5, 2001 at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes 4701 Marysville Blvd. Sacramento, CA. 922-5833. Interment will follow at Sunset Lawn Memorial Park.
