Extract from letter from Joan Hunter [Feb 2003]

Elsie. I have a note she was born in June 1921. She passed the exam to go to a Commercial School. This was between an Elementary School, as ordinary schools were then called, and a Grammar School. She often came to stay at our house at weekends - she probably enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere! She married Frank Crawford in 1943 and I was one of her bridesmaids. Frank's Grandfather, Edmund Crawford, and Elsie's Grand- mother, Rose Ann Crawford, were brother and sister, so that made Elsie and Frank half- cousins! Frank (called Frankie) was born on 29 May 1919. He died on 5 March 1968.
