At the vale end of the Bridge (which is not a bridge but is a road reclaimed from a shallow strip of sea that once separated the Island into 2 parts, was an Ironmongers shop called Leales (see the Ironmongers Index for John Leale) which was quite large and had demolished a row of cottages to accommodate the premises, this was probably bridge road.
