He lived in Calderbridge, Cumberland, with his wife Hannah (COOKE of Haile) & ten children. He is mentioned as being a blacksmith on the 1841, 1851, 1861, and two of his sons also became blacksmiths. The smithy remained in the family until the late 1900s, the last blacksmith being Isaac Gainford his great grandson. Joseph Gainford (b:1796) was my great great grandfather.
