Jonas, a native of Hudson, N. H., came to Hing. early in the year 1839. He was twice m. For his sec. w. he m. Eliza French, dau. of Samuel and Mary (Beal) French of Boston. She d. at B., 24 Jan. 1877, �t. 74 yrs. He d. in Hing. 26 Feb. 1850, �t. 62 yrs. "Physician." Resided on Main St., near Tower's Bridge.

   NOTE. -- Thomas, Hing. 1636, had a house-lot granted him that yr. or the yr. foll. at Hing. Centre, "over the river." But little is kn. concerning him or his fam. In 1659 he was witness to a conveyance from Thomas Brattle ?? ???. et al. to Thomas et al. of a farm at Muddy River in Boston. Mary, perh. dau. of Thomas, was bt. in Hing. Apr. 13, 1645. The name of Joseph Underwood also appears among the arrivals in Hing. 1637. John, of Quincy, m. Apr. 19, 1831, Chloe H., dau. of Ellis Shumway. She d. at Taunton, Mass., 10 Jan. 1871, �t. 63 yrs.
