  1. Samuel (perh. a s. of Henry, who d. and was buried here, 15 May 1642), had a grant of land on the Lower Plain 1636. Freeman 9 March, 1636-37. Was representative Nov. 1637, and again in March foll. He also was the second town-clerk of Hing. (1646), having succeeded Joseph Andrews, who removed to Dux. ab. that time. His first w., whom he prob. m. in Eng., d. in Hing. 28 Nov. 1638. He subsequently removed from here and took a sec. w., whose chri. name was Frances. She d. 10 June, 1690, at the age 83 yrs. "I presume," says Mr. Savage, that "he is the benefactor who gave to Har. Coll. the Island lying off the harbor of Hingham called Bumkin's, or Ward's Island, and he may be the same that lived, 1658-1677, at Charlestown, and d. there, 31 Aug. 1682, aged 89 years." In our early history, the est's on Main, between High and Friend Sts., belonged to Samuel Ward, and were sold by him to Jabez Wilder. He also owned other lots of land, and the street leading from High to Cushing St. undoubtedly took its name from the fact that sev. generations of his descendants lived in this neighborhood. His

  7. Henry4 (Henry3, Henry2, Samuel1), b. in Hing. Aug. 10, 1709, m. Nov. 11, 1751, Mary Waterman, dau. of Thomas and Mary (Beal) Waterman. She was b. in Hing. May 17, 1733, and d. 9 June, 1776, at the age of 43 yrs. He d. 5 May, 1777, at the age of 68 yrs. Resided on Fort Hill St.

  8. Edward4 (Edward3, Henry2, Samuel1), b. in Hing. Feb. 4, 1703-4, m. Dec. 12, 1727, Susanna Ward, dau. of Benjamin and Susanna (Fearing) Ward. She was b. in Hing. Feb. 16, 1710-11. Edward was constable in 1737. In 1745 he was one of the Louisburg soldiers. He also was a deacon of the church. Resided on High St.
