Will of Joseph NORTON, Cauldwell, Derbyshire: 1811

Probate granted 19 January 1813, Lichfield

This is the last Will and Testament of me Joseph NORTON of Cauldwell in the Parish of Stapenhill in the County of Derby, Cordwainer, being of sound and disposing memory and understanding do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner following, that is to say

First I Will and Order that all my just debts and funeral expenses shall be paid by my Executors hereinafter named, out of my Personal Estate

I give devise and bequeath to my dearly beloved wife Mary NORTON all and singular my Lands and Tenements with their Appurtenances Goods & Chattels Monies Securities for Money Rights Credits and Personal Estate whatsoever & wheresoever within the Kingdom of England to be enjoyed by her for her life

And after her death I do give and bequeath unto my son Joseph NORTON and his Executors Administrators & Assigns all those two Messuages and Tenements with the Lands & Appurtenances thereto belonging situate in Cauldwell aforesaid which I hold by Lease under the Corporation of Etwall Hospital & Repton School during all my Estate and Interest therein

I do give unto my son William NORTON all my wearing apparel

I do give unto my daughter Sarah NORTON a Bed in the Parlour and Case and all things belonging thereto

All my Real Estate and the residue of my Personal Estate of what nature and kind soever and wheresoever after the death of my wife I do give to Elizabeth WEBSTER, Hannah NORTON widow of Charles NORTON, John NORTON, Ann KINSTON (sic), William NORTON, James NORTON & Sarah NORTON to be equally divided amongst them as Tenants in Common and to their respective Heirs Executors Administrators & Assigns forever

I do nominate and appoint my wife Mary NORTON and sons John NORTON and William NORTON Executors of this my last Will and Testament I do hereby revoke and make void all other Wills made by me at any time heretofore made and do declare this only to be my last Will and Testament in Witness whereof I the said Joseph NORTON have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal this 3rd day of October in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred & Eleven

Signed Sealed Published & Declared by the said Testator Joseph NORTON as and for his last Will and Testament in the Presence of us who at his request and in the Presence of each other have subscribed our names in Witness to the same

At Lichfield 19 Jan 1813: Let Probate of this Will be granted to JOHN NORTON of Market Bosworth in the County of Leicester Shoemaker and WILLIAM NORTON of Cauldwell Shoemaker the Executors reserving a Power for MARY NORTON the Executrix to Prove in like manner

The said JOHN NORTON & WILLIAM NORTON being first duly sworn as also the Personal Estate of the said deceased does not amount in value to the sum of 100 before me
