Biographical Notes for St Allen Residents



Richard STRAIGHT

Richard STRAIGHT was born circa 1635.
He married Lowday / Lov[e]day NICHOLAS, 10 Feb 1661, at St Just in Roseland and together they had at least seven children.

Richard STRAIGHT was buried at St Allen, 5 Nov 1700. No authentic burial has been found for Lowday / Loveday STRAIGHT.



Barbara CLEMOW, née SEARLE

Barbara SEARLE was chr 1712 at Newlyn East, the d/o William SEARLE and Jane. She married Robert CLEMOW in 1733 at Newlyn East. Robert and Barbara had two sons who both died young.



Henry & Mary LANYON

Henry LANYON was the son of John LANYON of Paul and Sarah STRAIGHT.

Henry LANYON, of Saint Allen married Mary SEARLE, 22 May 1775, at Crantock and had 9 children, the oldest of whom was Sarah LANYON (below) who married Thomas HOSKINS of Trefonick, in St Allen.

Henry’s death was published in the West Briton 30th November 1838 (not sure why the delay of 10 months?):
"At St. Allen, on Monday last, Mr. Henry Lanyon, aged 83 years, who survived his wife, of the same age, three weeks, having been married to her 64 years".

Sarah HOSKINS, née LANYON

Baptized 1776 at St Allen d/o Henry LANION and Mary [née SEARLE], above
Sarah LANYON married Thomas HOSKINS, 18 April 1803 at St Allen

Date of death: 19 Nov 1838
Cause of death: paralytic seizure
