21 Anna Towne.44 Born on 9 Sep 1803 in Greenwich, Hampshire Co., Massachusetts.52, V 339, p 420 calc. from death date. Anna died in Springfield, Hampden Co., Massachusetts, on 24 Jan 1882; she was 78.52, V 339; p 420 of “Old Age” at 78y 4m 15d.

An Anna Towne of Petersham is listed in the Worcester County, Massachusetts, Probate Index, Vol. 1 & 2 A - Z, July 1731-1881 as the subject of a guardianship record in 1819.23

Two men seem to be candidates to be Anna’s father; Levi Town and Jonathan Town are both in the 1800 and 1810 census for Greenwich. They both have at least one free white female under 10 in their household in 1810. In 1820, Jonathan Town is still listed but Levi is not. If Levi died before 1820, this could explain the guardianship of Anna Towne in Petersham.103

Research in the Greenwich town records, available on microfiche at the Winsor Dam headquarters, Belchertown, MA on 14 July 2008:

No birth record for an Anna Town or Towne around 1803 could be found; any Annas or Hannahs were born either too early or too late. Levi Town and his wife Abigail (Oaks, of Hardwick), married 8 March 1790 had four recorded children: Heman [sic] b. 1/21/1791; Sarah b. 6/21/1792; Phana b. 2/28/1794; and Luther b. 9/30/1799. Levi was born to Abner and Sarah Town on 6 December 1766. While Anna could have been their daughter, no evidence of that was found.

Listed as the father (with Charlotte Reglin as mother) of Ferdinand Friedrich August Wilhelm Radü, born March 26, 1838, bapt. April 8, 1838. Later crossed out and replaced by Gottfried Radü and Christine Dorothea Reglin76

He married Charlotte Reglin76.

They had the following children:
12 i. Ferdinand Wilhelm (1834-1904)
ii. Unbaptized (Died as Infant) (1836-1836)

25 Charlotte Reglin.76

28 Carl Krause.

He married Augusta Unknown.

They had one child:
14 i. Herman (1854-1930)

29 Augusta Unknown.

30 Christian Friedrich Gottfried Hardt.

In the online listings for his children (FamilySearch.org, batch number C999781), the order of his given names is not uniform; therefore given here in alphabetical order.

Martha Hardt was a half sister to Helena and Olga.

There is another Hardt woman named Anna M. married to Hugh F. Hillegass (1898, license #103926, image # 00078, digital folder # 4140435; see URL), located in the censuses for 1900, 1910, and 1920. Her maiden name was found in the Philadelphia Archives marriage license applications (https://familysearch.org/search/recordDetails/show?uri=https://api.familysearch.org/records/pal:/MM9.1.r/MSNN-GFY/p1). She arrived in the USA in 1883 (hard to read) according the 1920 census. In the Castle Garden records, an Anna Hardt (age 9) and an Edward Hardt (age 21) arrived on the Rhaetia on June 17, 1885. This is the same ship and date on which Helena Hardt Krause and her children Emma, Willi, and Mattie arrived on their return from Germany. In addition, the 1920 census shows Augusta Radue, widow of Charles (Carl) A. Radue, and Quintino Rabiolio (sp? a tailor who worked for Ferdinand and Charles Radue) living with Hugh and Anna Hillegass.

Recent information shows that Anna was the daughter of Helene’s sister, Auguste Louise, and was therefore her niece.

He married Emilie Marie Christine Berg in Pomerania, Germany.

They had the following children:
i. Auguste Sophie Marie Louise (1853-)
ii. Caroline Emilie Ida (1855-1857)
15 iii. Auguste Anna Helene (1857-1903)
iv. Emil Gottfried Carl (1859-)
v. Otto Johannes August Julius (1861-)
vi. Marie Olga Anna (1863-1915)

31 Emilie Marie Christine Berg. Born on 24 Feb 1829 in Stettin, Pommern, Preussen.310, Berg-Emilie MC.JPG At the age of <1, Emilie Marie Christine was baptized in Stettin, Pommern, Preussen, on 15 Mar 1829.310, Berg-Emilie MC.JPG St. Gertrud Kirche; Pathen: 1. Aug. Wilh. Wollert [Luhsmann ??], 2. Fr. Anna Marie Hahn, geb. Marx, 3. Jgfr. Christine Beckmann. Emilie Marie Christine died bef 1866; she was 36.

She likely died before 1866, as the half sister Martha Hardt was born in May of 1867 (not found in St. Gertrud records for 1865-66).

One of Emilie’s baptism witnesses was Anna Marie Hahn, born Marx. The St. Gertruds Taufbuch for 1830 records the following:310

Am sechs u zwanzigsten /26/ Januar ist die Ehefrau des Arbeitsmanns Fried. Hahn, Anna Marie Marx von einem todten Knaben entbunden worden

On the twenty sixth of January the lawful wife of laborer Fried. Hahn, Anna Marie Marx, delivered a stillborn son

It is a reasonable guess that Friedrich Hahn, the father, might be the brother, or at least some relation, of Marie Magdalena Hahn, Emilie’s mother.
