On May 12, 2007, the city of Fitchburg, MA rededicated the memorial to Company A of the 53rd Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry. It had been vandalized in 2006. Also, a new gravestone for Orlando Boss, Medal of Honor winner from the 25th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry was dedicated, now indicating his status as a Medal of Honor winner. I had the good fortune to attend this ceremony on an absolutely beautiful day earlier this month. The views from the recovered and refurbished cemetery are really quite stunning.
