Dear and most affectionate son I received your most welcome letter today and was glad to hear from you well we are all well at this time only sad and lonely if you had not gone to war I should have one comfort left now your father has gon but now I have not one left all I had is taken from me I have not one here that cares any thin about me we have no news about war nor anything elsen I surpose you will hear about those things before you get this for Lizzie wrote to George about them well they were all stole what was in your valice was there any money in it if there was not I am glad of it

I had a letter fron you from your farther last week he was better than he was when you left camp he thinks he shall git along now he wrote you a line and sent it to you and not thinking of having a letter from you so soon and so I sent it in Lizzies letter to George and so I surpose you have got it before now and do be carefule and take care of yourself and not take cold if you do it will settle on your lungs and be bad for you don't go without your sleep Lizzie wants you should write to her the story is that Sarrah Warker is marred to Lias L(?)enerson but we don't believe it

our love and best respects to you and George and Burney and all the rest of your company that knows us you ask Farmer(?) if he wants a little cherry rum if he does to come to me and he can have it for I believe that he was the one trhat left them bottles behind the barn you find out and write to me. if you can read this I shall be glad for my pen is so poor that I cannot write I understand that it is so cold out there that you have been almost frozen to death I surpose you have heared Charles Marshall is dead and Otis M. has gorn on after him

I must draw my letter to a close for it is almost bed time by wishing you all the blessings this world afords write as soon as you get this and let me know what there was in your valice and write all the perticulars about war and everything else
