DEATH OF JOHN T. KING
Greenup County parts with one of it most Respectable Citizens.
From the time that the announcement was made of John T. King’s sickness, considerable uneasiness was manifested by his friends, and when the news of this death was heralded about the city Thursday morning it fell like a thunder-bolt upon them. It was hardly possible that such a self-made man, full of vim and vigor, and one who all mankind respected, should be called away, but all must die, and John T. King has answered the call from on high, dying at 6 o’clock Thursday morning after an illness of but ten days, of inflammation of the bowels.
The deceased was the son of Squire Benj. F. King, of Greenup county, who is widely known hereabouts and was 44 years of age. He resides on the east side of the mouth of Tygart Creek, a few miles above the city in Kentucky. Her served his county creditably in the Legislature in 1883 and 1884, and was a member of high standing in the Masonic order, which organization participated in a body and had charge of his funeral. He was a member of the Masonic Mutual Benefit Association of Maysville, from which his family will realize $1,800. He had a $10,000 insurance policy upon his life, having paid but one premium.
The funeral services took place from Mt. Zion Church, of which he was a devout member, yesterday afternoon the Mason of this city going up in a body on the ferry boat at noon, to attend the services.
He leaves a wife and eight children.
