Hanson
Hanie Hanson
married in Walton County, Georgia on 19 Dec 1833 to Sansom W. Roberts, son of
William Roberts and Frankey (Frances?) Sansom. Hanie and Sansom Roberts
had six children, William H. Roberts, Mary A. Roberts, Sarah T. Roberts, Lewis
E. (H. G.) Roberts, Griffin A. Roberts and James S. Roberts. Their daughter,
Mary A. Roberts is my GGreat Grandmother who married Oliver Perry McLean.
They had three sons before he went to war and died in Virginia in 1862. Their
sons were William Thomas McLean, Theodore Hampton McLean and Lewis Clinton
McLean (my great grandfather).
After his death,
she remarried to his brother, Juan Fernandez McLean who was one of three
brothers who survived the war. They had three more children together,
Alice Rebecca McLean, Exor M. McLean and John Morgan McLean.
Sansom W. Roberts
and Hanie Hanson Roberts moved to Fayette County, Georgia at some point.
Sansom W. Roberts died on 22 Dec 1849. I have just
recently found the grave of Sansom W. Roberts on private property in Fayette
County, Georgia located off of Greenville Road in the southern part of the
county near Starrs Mill and Woolsey. I took photos of the headstone which
is hand carved and hope to be able to read it better from the photograph than I
was able to in person.
Hanie Roberts
married Hugh Porter in Fayette County, Georgia on 01 Dec 1853. Hugh Porter
raised her children by Sansom Roberts and they had three more children of their
own, Archibald R. Porter, John Hugh Porter and Ophelia Jane Porter. Hugh Porter
died on 02 Jun 1861 so Hanie was again left with small children to raise.
She remarried to Edmond Seagraves who died by 1870.
Hanie lived in
Fayette County until her death on 30 Oct 1891. She was buried at Antioch
Church Cemetery in Fayette County, Georgia beside her second husband, Hugh
Porter.
WHO ARE HANIE
HANSON'S PARENTS??? THIS IS ONE OF MY ROADBLOCKS, SO ANY TIDBITS OR SUGGESTIONS
ARE VERY WELCOME.
WHAT IS HER
RELATIONSHIP, IF ANY, TO THE OTHER HANSONS IN WALTON COUNTY AND FAYETTE
COUNTY?
I searched
the census of Walton Co., GA in 1830 and the only female Hanson I found that fit
Hanie's age is a household where Maranm Henson is listed as Head of Household
and as age 50-60 with another female in household age, 15 - 30. If Hanie
was born in 1814 as her tombstone reads, she would have been 16 in June of 1830.
She was married three years later. Finding a death or burial record for
this Maranm Henson could be an important key in establishing Hanie's parentage
if this is indeed her.
