reads: "Holman. The first of this family of whom we have definite knowledge is Captain James
Holman, Sr. he was one of the earliest justices of Goochland Co., Virginia (1728) and member
of the House of Burgesses from Goochland. He died June 1759.
Captain James Holman,Jr. his son, died in Cumberland Co., Virginia Nov 1761. Sarah Holman, a daughter of Captain James, Jr. and Jane, His wife, married Anthony Martin, or
Antoin La Martine, who was a descendant of a distinguished French Huguenot family long
settled at Manikin-town, Powhatana Co.,Virginia.
James Martin, the only son of Anthony Martin and Sarah, his wife, married Ester Smith, daughter of Reverend George Smith, of Powhatan Co., Virginia, and later, with his family, of
Franklin Co., Kentucky.
William Holman Martin, son of James and Ester Smith Martin, married Susanna Smith Hale.
Their daughter Catherine Jane Martin, married Warren Viley, of Woodford Co., Kentucky.

12 James Holman was the only one of the commissioners who was also appointed to the
Paraclifta Board of Trustees in 1831. P.39 Soon after the Act which designated Joseph
English's home as a temporary seat of justice, the Territorial General Assembly passed a act
appointed James Holman, Joseph Ladd, George T. Boring, David Clark, and Levi Davis as
commissioners "to locate Seat of Justice in and for the County of Sevier." They selected a place
about a mile east of the Cossatot river, on the line of Sections 25 and 26, Township 10 range 30
W. which was known then or later as Paraclifta.

Funeral For Aged Pioneer
Funeral service was held Friday at the Penecostal Holiness church in Quinton
for Mrs. Ann Taylor Graves, 92, who died Wednesday of last week in the home
of a daughter, Mrs. Alpha Caudron at Gowen.
Rev. Valla Cleta Bland, conducted the service and interment followed in the
Enterprise cemetry under the direction of the MalloryFuneral home of Stigler.
Mrs. Graves was born Ann Taylor Holman, December 4,1867, in Polk County,
Arkansas. She was married to James H. Stockton and to this union were born two sons.
In 1891 she was married to Joseph Henry Graves and to this union three girls
and three boys were born. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1936
and by two daughters.
Survivors include five sons, Idus Stockton, Quinton: Francis Stockton,
McAlester; Clyde Graves, and Claude Graves, Visalia, Calif.; Odus Graves,
Quinton; and one daughter, Mrs. Caudron of Gowen, one sister, Mrs Telitha
Clifford, Ft.Smith, Ark; twenty-nine grandchildren and sixty-one great
grandchildren.
Ann married James Hugh STOCKTON son of James Marshall STOCKTON and Catherine BARTON on 4 Jan 1883 in Franklin Co., Ark.. James was born on 20 Dec 1862 in Jackson Co., Ala.. He died on 22 Oct 1928 in Nr.Gary, Canadian, Ok.. He had other parents.
