    Symbols meaning - Annulets - finger rings. Piles - represents large pieces of wood used in building bridges, builder, may represent a pennon or flag. Shamrocks - perpetuity.

    Below is the Will of Samuel Young Sr., made 23 Feburary 1819. I've written it as it was written, meaning spelling as I saw it. I made xxx's where I couldn't make out words clearly. There wasn't any date to begin and there wasn't any punctuation marks, it simply started with, Be it remembered.

    Be it remembered that I Samuel Young of Vinalhaven in the County of Hancock and Commonwelth of Massachusetts Yeman being weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory blessed be Almightly God for the same - do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and from following what is to say
    First
    I give and bequeath unto my oldest daughter Mary Young the sum of twenty dallars I do also give and bequeath unto my youngest daughter Martha Young one Crown and forty five dallars and I do also give her the said Martha Young an annuity of fifteen dallars per year during the time that she remains sole and unmarried also the use and occupation of the first xxxx in the South West Corner of my dwelling house during the time she remains single , I do also give and bequeath unto my daughter Mercy Coombs the sum of forty five dallars - I do also give and bequeath unto my daughter Rebecca (Dyer)?, the sum of forty five dallars - I do also give and bequeath unto my daughter Lydia Phillbrook the sum of forty five dallars - I do also give and bequeath unto my daughter (Can't make out name) the sum of forty five dallars (here, ? maybe another name) I do also give and bequeath unto my daughter Rachael Phillbrook the sum of forty five dallars - and one Crown which said several xxxxxxxxx order sum of money I will and order shall be paid to the said legalees written one year after my desease - I further give and devise to my oldest son Samuel Young Jr. and to my youngest son David Young all what my xxxxxxxxx tenaments situated lying and being in the town of Vinalhaven in the County of Hancock - and all my freehold estate lying in Orleans in the County of Barnstable together with all my other freehold estates whatsoever to hold to them the said Samuel Jr. and David Young and their heirs and xxxxxxxxxxx - lastly as to all the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate goods and xxxxxxxx of what kind and nature soever I give and bequeath the same to the said Samuel Young Jr. and David Young whom I hereby appoint my sole exsecutors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made In writting I have hereunto set my hand and seal at Vinalhaven the twenty third day of Feburary in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nineeteen.

    Sign sealed published declared by the above named Samuel Young to be his last will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses to the same.

    Samuel married Lydia STUTTS daughter of Thomas STUTTS and Experience RYDER. Lydia was born 7 March 1762 Barnstable Co., Mass. She died on 12 Jun 1817.

Son of Jeremiah Philbrook Sr. and Sarah Jane Leadbetter. b. 31 Oct. 1779 Bath Sagadahoc, Maine, d. 12 May 1838 Vinal Haven, Maine. Married (2) Nancy Ginn m. 3 Mar 1805, b. 24 Oct 1787. One son with Nancy � Thomas Philbrook, b. 18 Dec 1805 Vinalhaven, Knox, Maine.

Enlisted as Lieutenant, 1st Class Military Induction 16 Aug. 1862 Ohio. Married (2) Mary Ann Green, 29 Aug. 1844 Hancocck Co., Ohio.
