This photograph of Antoinette Abbott holding one of her children was taken at the top of the front porch steps of the family home located at 689 East 132nd Street, Bronx, New York.
The photo was most likely taken in the mid to late 1920s based on Antoinette's hair style. For many years she had very long hair, but according to one of her daughters, Dorothy (Abbott) Delaney, Antoinette had her her cut shorter in the mid-1920s, which was a style prevalent during that era. In this image, Antoinette appears to have fairly short hair, which may help date when the picture was taken. We also know that Jameson and Antoinette did not move to the 132nd Street house until 1918, which also helps place the date of this photograph.
It's not clear which of her children Antoinette is holding in her lap, but it appears to be a boy. If the picture was taken in the mid to late 1920s, it is possible that the child is Richard Joseph Abbott, who was born on February 26, 1927. Another possibility, although less likely, is that the child was Harold Abbott, who was born in 1929.
